Things to Do

The photo above shows a high view of part of the camping area during a peak holiday period.  We have a total of 35 campsites on several terraced levels - you can see their layout on the park map. Currently, less than half these sites are available to holiday campers, the others are reserved for privately owned holiday vans, which are only occasionally occupied; because of this, the park is never crowded, even in peak periods. (Most of the "annuals" tend to avoid the busy periods.)

Our amenities block is situated on the topmost level of the camping area of the park.  It is basic, but clean and spacious, with two showers and three toilets in both the men's and the ladies' areas. Other facilities include a coin-op laundry, with two washing machines and a dryer, and washing up/hot water facilities for campers.

Our powered sites are on a series of terraces on a gently sloping hill, with plenty of trees to keep things pleasant. Guests are welcome to borrow fire drums for campfires when fire restrictions permit, and subject to some other usage restrictions. Above, in residence, is "Queen" Wilma Hayne.

NATIONAL PARKS & NADGEE  NATURE RESERVE

The vast Nadgee Nature Reserve stretches from Wonboyn Village to Mallacoota south of the Victorian border.  In conjunction with Victoria's Croajingolong National Park, it is one of twelve World Biosphere Reserves in Australia - making it one of the few truly natural world wilderness areas, where major habitats are studied and carefully preserved. Just north of Nadgee is Ben Boyd National Park, and to the west the vast East Boyd and Nadgee State Forests.

The Nadgee Nature Reserve offers unparallelled walks through bushland and landscapes ranging from rugged coastal heath to tranquil rock pools and dramatic coastal cliffs. Fauna include some rare and endangered species such as the ground parrot, long thought to be extinct, and the Eastern bristlebird.  The vegetation throughout the park is both complex and diverse.

National Parks NSW also conduct a variety of seasonal workshops and activity days, especially during the school holidays. Visit the Victorian and NSW National Parks websites for detailed information on bushwalking, permits and other aspects of visiting national parks.
