The superb and (usually!) consistent lake, estuary, beach and rock fishing in and around Wonboyn Lake is one of the main reasons visitors keep coming back year after year. When there is good tidal flow at the lake entrance boats can cross the bar into Disaster Bay for some of the best blue water fishing in Australia. (Please check the Entrance page for any critical news regarding the state of the entrance.) Alternatively, you can launch from Quarantine Bay, a short drive up the highway towards Eden, for safe ocean fishing which includes a couple of very productive kingfish spots. Common fish species caught regularly at Wonboyn include some of the biggest and best dusky flatheads you'll see anywhere, bream, luderick, salmon and tailor, estuary perch, silver trevally, excellent whiting and even jewfish if you put the time and effort in. Not uncommon off the rocks and at sea are catches of snapper (mostly "pinkies"), several varieties of wrasse, the occasional drummer, gurnard, gummy and other sharks.

Boat owners can rent moorings on our jetty, and we have two hire boats available to park guests for fishing the lake and river. A boat is not a necessity, however, as there is plenty of land-based fishing accessible via a drive and/or a short walk. Access to the beaches and lake shores is via National Parks bush tracks.
